THOUGHTS ON A CANDID

I saw this
couple in Glasgow last summer, in George’s Square. I was magnetized by the way they were sitting there, under one of the numerous statues in that square. They both looked lost in their thoughts. The boy was not sleeping, because I saw him talking to her. She was bending her head on him as if she were lamenting for something or as if she was just accompanying him on his own lament. She looked sad and frustrated, while the way he was lying revealed a sort of “I’m sorry, I can’t help with it…” or “I’m sorry, I did my best…” … In any case I found it a very interesting opportunity to catch the mood of that moment in their life and try to analyze it later . They were both “away”, in tight togetherness though..  Fragile, isn’t it? .. That’s what thrills me with candid photography. That you can catch the moment,  immortalize it and then interpret the essence of the subject, sometimes even distort it, willingly.
A way of self determination through the others’ lives….
